Victorian FRINGED Towel
There have been millions
of wonderful Victorian fringed towels manufactured in New England during the
industrial revolution at majestic brick textile mills. So few fringed towels
have survived the last 150 years ~ except the memorable ones with
interesting patterns and damask weaves that have never been used.
Woven on a jacquard loom
is this exceptional Victorian fringed towel with a double damask weave of a hand
holding PLAYING CARDS. What is so amazing is the weave shows the
human hand, shirt cuff, and coat cuff in great detail. There are two
jacquard bands of red and blue with a floral pattern and a 3" fringe on both
ends. Measures 40" long x 19" wide. This pure linen towel is crisp and clean and
ever so ready to grace the center of your table since it has no problems at all. The weaving looms of the
majestic brick textile mills of New England are now silenced since
they no longer turn out wonderful linen and cotton textiles. They now are fancy
condominiums since the looms were once water powered so the buildings are all on
picturesque rivers and waterways.
