This is an exceptional vintage AMERICAN COMBSPUN PERCALE COTTON sheet set with one (1) top sheet and two (2) matching pillowcases that has NEVER been used or washed.
Lovingly stored away in a hope chest for over 6 decades from a fine home in Fairhaven, MA is this DAN RIVER, top of the line, combed percale sheet set. Nearby New Bedford and Fall River at one time had many, many textile mills producing these fine American-made bed sets.
The south shore of Massachusetts still has a large population of Portuguese/Madeira immigrants who quickly became citizens and who brought their cutwork and embroidery skills with them so they were immediately employed at the mills.
This fabulous set has all Portuguese/Madeira hand embroidery with hand appliqués of soft pink FORGET ME NOT florals and green leaves on finely milled white percale cotton.
The top sheet measures 84" wide x 92" long with an 11" turndown on both sides. Your double bed is 54" wide and your queen bed is 60" wide. The two (2) matching pillowcases are 20" wide x 32" long. There's a sweet scent of potpourri and probably some old dust from being packed away so a gentle wash with your soap and this set will last your lifetime of sweet dreams.
